X-Men: The Last Stand (titled X-Men: the final decision in Spain and X-Men: the final battle in Latin America ) is a 2006 superhero movie and is the third feature film in the X-Men series. It was directed by Brett Ratner and starred Hugh Jackman , Famke Janssen , Halle Berry , Patrick Stewart , Ian McKellen , Kelsey Grammer , Anna Paquin and Rebecca Romijn. The script of the film is loosely based on two arcs of the X-Men comic-book story, the “Saga of the Dark Phoenix” by writer Chris Claremont and the artist John Byrne, the mysterious resurrection of Jean Gray and ” Gifted “by writer Joss Whedon and artist John Cassaday, with a plot that revolves around a” mutant cure “that causes serious repercussions between mutants and humans. Note that although they have no contact between them, this is the only movie in the franchise in which the five original X-Men appear .
